We have received multiple calls to our office this morning in reference to a scam going around. Callers are stating they received a call from someone claiming to be a Lieutenant from the Sherrif's Office. This person is advising the callers that they missed jury duty. He is apparently telling them to get pay vouchers to "settle" their fines.
First, The Sherrif's Office has not had Lieutenants for nearly 20 years. If you get a call from someone alleging to be law enforcement, get the phone number they are calling from and hang up. They can call and leave the number with us so we can pass it along. These are scams and you should never give out any personal information or send any money to anyone without first verifying the information.
